Hello, my name is Eadie Nadeau and today I am going to tell you about my best friend, aka my brother Nathan. The Bible says, “A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for a time of adversity”. I can say this is true. My brother and I have always been friends but we never became close until we overcame obstacles together and had to grow and mature early from these struggles. My brother is one of the most amazing people. He is a friend to everyone unless you give him a reason not to be, the most protective over people he loves, one of the strongest people I know, and last but not least, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and let me tell you it’s a heart of gold.
I’ll begin by saying that Nathan knows me almost better than I know myself. He always knows exactly what to say, when something is wrong, or how to cheer me up. He is that shoulder to cry on no matter what it’s about. Growing up with such a strong older brother who is so loving and caring has shaped me into the person I am today.
Nathan is one of the most loving people I know. When he loves someone he loves them 100%, even if he thinks he’ll get hurt, which he has. But the thing I admire most about Nathan is no matter how many times he gets hurt, he continues to love everyone else in his life 100%, and he never puts up walls around his heart. This is where I pray I can learn to be like him. Like my dad, I burn bridges when people hurt me and I build walls around my heart. But Nathan is who I look up to when it comes to loving others. He loves everyone for who they truly are.
Another thing about him is he is one of the kindest people ever. When put in a room of random people Nathan will leave with at least 2 new friends, and I admire this about him. He gets this from my mom. Something about them just is so welcoming and makes you want to be their friend. Lucky for me he is my built-in best friend. I feel bad for the people who don’t get to be his friend or the people who have done him wrong. They are truly missing out on one of the most amazing people ever to bless the Earth.
Something about having Nathan to look up to has helped me strive to be my best self. Nathan always helps me challenge myself, and being the younger sibling I definitely try to be as good as him. Growing up life was always a competition, but now that we’ve grown it’s just the constant support from one another to chase our dreams. If it weren’t for my brother and his support I wouldn’t be in this room right now. I would still be in New York stuck in a major I despise. But now I’m close to home and chasing my dream to be able to help people. I owe this all to the constant love and support from my brother.
If there was one thing I could admire most about my brother is his loyalty to the ones he loves. Once you earn his trust, he will never let you down. He will always be there for you no matter what and no matter the cost. There are so many more things I could go on and one about telling you how great my brother is, so many stories to show you his true character. But that would take way too long. If there is one thing to take away from this speech, one thing that Nathan has taught me, it is to love the ones you have 100%, give selflessly, and be there for them no matter what.
